Welcome to The Three County Fair
Please come and join us September 2nd through September 5th, 2016 for the 199th edition of the Three County Fair.
THREE COUNTY FAIR 2016
In 2016 we celebrate our 199th Three County Fair. This year we have added many new events and contests. Any event that lasts this long has to have something special going for it. We believe that staying true to our core values and mission of supporting agriculture and education in our fertile valley and hills has enabled the fair to honor our traditions while changing with the times.
New events this year include a school bus demolition derby on Monday afternoon. Local schools have been invited to sponsor a bus and cheer on their school and team. Each bus will be decorated by the students. Winning team receives a cash prize to benefit their chosen school activity. Preceding the school bus demo a Demo Cross class will be held.
The traditional Friday night and Sunday night demos are fan favorites at the fair generally selling out each night.
This year a new competition has been added to our activities, a home Brew competition. Because of the significant increase in the importance of local breweries and brewing to our agricultural base the growing of hops and fruits for Beverages has increased dramatically.
There are three categories in the event: Vienna style lager, IPA, Porter and a Best in Show will be awarded.
The judges of the contest will be the brewers for four local Breweries who will also each have samples of their favorite summer brews and a People's choice award will be selected from those entries. Tasting tickets will be sold at the site of the Brewers contest.

Emerging Musician Showcase
The 3 County Fair has long held a battle of the bands competition for youth in the greater tri-county area, which has served as an important public spotlight for young aspiring musicians. This year, we are changing it up and relaunching the event as an "Emerging Musician Showcase", with a format that is grounded in mentorship as opposed to competition. This is a uniquely positioned event because it draws from a diverse range of communities, representing youth from Westfield to Greenfield across a divergent spectrum of genres.
Our panel of mentors includes musicians, radio personalities, producers and engineers - charismatic heavy hitters who can offer tactful and constructive feedback to youth participants. The panelists are part of the show (think "The Voice"), interacting with the artists and the audience between performances. The goal is to recognize and support young musicians with encouraging feedback, while at the same time, engaging the audience with entertaining dialogue and character.
The event will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, September 3rd at the 3 County Fair under the music tent on the big stage. Each musician or band will perform a song and then the panel will provide feedback - recognizing laudable strengths, highlighting compelling qualities, and offering constructive (actionable) suggestions about ways to grow as individuals and enhance group dynamics. The mentors will privately score each act in order to conclude the afternoon with a series of awards - some that recognize individuals (e.g. "outstanding vocal technique") and others that recognize groups (e.g. "Best Arrangement"). Each award will come with a prize that aims to support continuing growth (e.g. music store gift certificates, time at a recording studio, etc.).
Entry forms are available by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
